Nenagh family seek answers from Health Minister

The family of Nenagh woman Marion Kelly who passed away almost 2 weeks ago will meet with the Health Minister in the New Year to discuss the withdrawal of a drug from Alpha One patients.

Marion Kelly was 53 years old when she died.

She was one of 2 patients of the genetic disorder who have died since the trial drug was withdrawn by the HSE.

Despite the drugs company offering it to patients for a further six months free of charge, the HSE refused to pay the admin fees meaning the deal fell through.

Speaking on Tipp Today, Marion’s daughter Aideen said the Minister for Health has committed to meeting them in the New Year.
