Major overcrowding problems continue at University Hospital Limerick.

The Dooradoyle health facility – which provides Emergency Department cover for North Tipp, Limerick and Clare – has 45 patients without a bed today.

This is up from 39 yesterday and makes it the busiest hospital in the country today.

The problems at South Tipp General in Clonmel have eased somewhat in the last 24 hours – however there are still 24 patients being treated on trolleys around the ED or in overflow areas of wards.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is today reporting 423 patients without a bed at hospitals across the country today.
