Major overcrowding at University Hospital Limerick

People from North Tipperary can expect lengthy delays if they’re attending the Emergency Department at UHL today.

The Dooradoyle hospital is the most overcrowded in the country this afternoon with 61 people without a bed.

40 of these are being cared for on trolleys around the ED while the remainder are in overflow areas of wards.

Frontline staff at South Tipp General in Clonmel are also under pressure today with 23 patients left without a bed.

In all 343 people are waiting on hospital trolleys across the country today – a 22% increase on the same time last year.
