The HSE is warning people in South Tipp to ask for identification from anyone calling to their door claiming to be a Public Health Nurse.

It follows an incident in recent days when a person claiming to be a nurse called to a house. Gardaí have been notified of the matter.

The HSE says nurses will only call to a home when an advance arrangement has been made with the patient or family to do so.

If a person is in any doubt callers should be asked to present their valid HSE ID and that any concerns should be reported to the Gardaí.

Vulnerable and older persons are advised to ensure that their personal alarm devices are working and are worn at all times.
