Frontline staff dealing with major hospital overcrowding

There are 75 patients without a bed between the two main hospitals serving Tipperary this afternoon.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation say 38 patients are on trolleys or in overflow areas of wards at South Tipp General in Clonmel.

Overcrowding is just as bad at University Hospital Limerick with 37 people without a bed.

Nationally the nursing union is reporting nearly 600 patients being cared for on trolleys today – Cork University Hospital is the worst hit with 45.
