Contrasting trolley figures at local hospitals

There are more than 350 patients waiting for a bed across in hospitals across the country this afternoon.

University Hospital Galway is the worst affected, with 41 people on trolleys in the Emergency Department and in overflow areas of wards.

That’s followed by Cork University Hospital with 35, and University Hospital Limerick – which covers North Tipperary, Limerick and Clare – with 34 people in need of a bed.

Things are particularly quiet at South Tipp General in Clonmel today – they have just one patient without a bed today.
