Consultants welcome investment in South Tipp General

The new investment announced for South Tipperary General Hospital should clear all patients off trolleys according to one of its consultants.

Under the National Planning Framework, the proposed 40 bed modular unit has been granted funding – this should now be up and running by next November.

Professor Paud O’Regan says this should ease the current pressure on the emergency department.

The hospital has also been approved for investment in a new Outpatient Clinic while a new €24 million 50 bed unit will be advanced for construction.

Speaking on Tipp Today with Fran Curry, Professor O’Regan said although the hospital won’t be perfect, they are on the right road.
