Harry Gleeson campaigners express relief and delight over pardon.

President Michael D Higgins is to officially pardon the New Inn man who was given the death sentence for the murder of Mary 'Moll' McCarthy in Marlhill almost 75 years ago.

Harry Gleeson will be pardoned after an independent review found that there were 'deficiencies' in his conviction.

On foot of a submission from the Innocence Project Ireland and the Justice for Harry Gleeson Group, the Attorney General directed that the case be reviewed and the conviction was deemed unsafe.
