Borrisokane Community College has been granted funding for four new classrooms along with other improvements.
The money has been given the green light by Education Minister Ruairi Quinn and work will include the refurbishment of the old work house building which has fallen into disrepair.
Local Labour election candidate Greg Starr describes it as a huge boost for the local community.
