Government brought to task on problems at STGH

Tipperary’s main hospital has been operating at 150% capacity for what’s described as a dangerously long period of time.

The overcrowding issue at South Tipp General Hospital has been raised once again in the Dáil as local TDs continue their efforts to have extra resources provided.

The 79 bed medical department has been operating under what’s termed a “Full Capacity Protocol” for over a year and a half.

During leaders questions local TD Mattie McGrath tackled Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald on the crisis.

However Minister Fitzgerald says action is being taken with progress expected in the coming months.
