Gardai to investigate doping at National Coursing Festival

An animal rights organisation has claimed that drugs were illegally administered to dogs at a Clonmel coursing meeting.

The Campaign for the Abolition of Cruel Sports, say that prohibited drugs were given to 2 greyhounds at the showpiece National Coursing Festival meeting back in January.

They also say there was a further incident of drugging in Limerick, in February.

The association say that while the ICC has imposed its own penalties on the parties involved, a Garda investigation is also to be conducted into the incident.
