Gardai target Tipperary school students in road safety initiative.

The Assistant Garda Commissioner for the South Eastern region says that Tipperary has significant challenges when it comes to reducing road deaths.

Senior Garda figures are addressing hundreds of transition year students from 7 Tipperary schools at Rockwell College today and tomorrow as part of a safety initiative aimed at educating the students on the role they can play in curbing the carnage.

13 people have lost their lives on the county's roads since the start of the year, including several young people, and this campaign aims to educate people on good driver behaviour.

Assistant Commissioner Jack Nolan says it's vital to stress the importance of safe driving on the students before they take to the roads themselves.
