Former workers to protest outside Tipperary Natural Mineral Water depot.

A number of former employees of Tipperary Natural Mineral Water are to protest outside the companies Dublin distribution plant today.

The group say they were made redundant because they joined a trade-union.

SIPTU member and former shop-steward David Whelan worked with Tipperary Natural Mineral Water as a fork-lift driver for four years.

He claims they had taken wage cuts and deductions over the last few years as management said the company was losing money.

However latest accounts for parent company M&J Gleeson show a profit of €4.7 million last year.

David Whelan claims he and 16 fellow workers joined SIPTU in an attempt to secure negotiations with the company about the pay cuts – he says thirteen of the union members were made redundant four weeks ago.
