Former partner in Tipperary law firm struck off.

A former partner in a County Tipperary law practice has been struck off for misconduct.

Brendan McNamara used clients money to operate what was described in the High Court as an informal lending scheme.

McNamara is a former partner in Devitt – Doorley – McNamara of The Valley, Roscrea.

The court heard of three cases in which Brendan McNamara was involved where clients money was used to pay others.

A Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal hearing in July, 2011 led to McNamara being censured and ordered to pay €12,000 to the Law Society's compensation fund.

The Law Society was unhappy with this and went to the High Court seeking that he be struck off.
