Concerns have been expressed at the idea of cluster developments on the edge of villages across Tipperary.

There are fears that the move will add another nail to the coffin of rural parts of the county.

Rathcabbin based Independent representative Michael O’Meara says a compromise needs to be reached to ensure areas outside of towns and villages continue to prosper.

Tipperary County Council is now being urged to actively encourage people to live in rural parts of the county.

Councillor Michael O’Meara has called for a rural redevelopment forum to look at areas of depopulation.
