Tipperary projects approved for funding

Over 40 local environment initiatives across Tipperary are to benefit from much needed funding.

It comes from the Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund which supports local environmental initiatives by communities, individuals and not-for-profit groups.

The LA 21 scheme promotes sustainable environmental development by assisting small-scale projects at local level.

The €18,000 allocation to the Premier County will be matched with a similar amount from Tipperary County Council.

This brings the total to €36,000 for Tipperary spread over 41 projects.

There are 17 schools approved for funding in Tipp – they include bee hive keeping at Rathcabbin National School with the aid of a local expert.

Tidy towns groups are also included with New Inn receiving an allocation towards plans for garden seating and a green area in the village.

The Cloth Nappy Library group have been approved for funding in their efforts to provide a service in library’s to allow parents to borrow cloth nappies.
