Irish Water has confirmed it is constructing a water treatment plant in Ballylooby.
The new plant is set to offer a more secure water supply than the one currently in place.
The current supply at Ballylooby Springs is vulnerable to flooding and contamination from an adjacent stream and surface water.
Independent TD Mattie McGrath described the development as very important for the region.
