Davitt Street works to remove lead pipes

Work is due to start on replacing lead pipes for houses on Davitt Street in Tipperary Town next month.

Irish Water is expected to sign contracts with the builders who’ll be doing the job in the coming week.

It’s understood that 70 families in the area still have lead piping bringing water into their homes.

Cllr Denis Leahy says it’s important that the local authority monitors the Traffic management plans so that the impact on local businesses can be kept to a minimum.
