SEMRA responds to two separate incidents at Galtee Mountains

Adverse weather conditions on the Galtee Mountains saw the South Eastern Mountain Rescue called in to action twice on Sunday.

Firstly, in early afternoon, rescue crews were called to assist a man who had become disoriented due to fog.

The man was able to re-locate himself and make his way down the mountain. A rescue team had been dispatched from the Black Road and accompanied him back to his car.

The second call out came from the Gardai in Thurles at 18.30. Two female walkers were reported as over due by a relative who requested assistance.

The women made their own way safely down the mountain as rescue workers were setting up base.
