Man found after major search operation in North Tipperary

The man got lost while searching for cattle on the Arra Mountains last night.

A major search operation was launched after he was reported missing at around 10pm.

He had been helping a local farmer search for the missing cattle when he lost his bearings as darkness set in.

The man was located at around 11.30 following an operation involving local Gardaí, the Civil Defence, Killaloe Coast Guard and the Shannon based Rescue 115 helicopter.

He is said to have been suffering from mild hypothermia but was otherwise unharmed – he was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick as a precaution.
