Efforts to tackle increasing number of road deaths in Tipperary.

Several initiatives from South Tipp County Council are underway to tackle the number of people dying on Tipperary roads.

In 2013, 13 people died on the county's roads.- more than double that of 2012, while one person has lost their life so far this year.

Figures from the Road Safety Authority show that 80% of deaths are men while the number of motorcyclists killed on the roads nationally increased by over 40 percent.

Jim Dillon is the road safety officer with South Tipperary County Council, he says that the education of young children is one of the main areas of focus in reducing the death toll.
