Junior Cert students urged to continue education

The results are out for more than 60,000 Junior Cert students today including 2,300 in Tipperary.

Teachers’ union the TUI is congratulating them, but warns it’s important to do the Leaving too.

It coincides with new research revealing a link between depression and not finishing school.

The OECD has found that almost a quarter of adults who left early struggled with their mental health, compared to just 9 per cent people who went on to college.
Meanwhile some youth clubs are warning students celebrating their Junior Cert results they won’t be allowed in if they’re drunk.

No Name clubs around the country are organising alcohol-free parties this evening.

The team hosting the Kilkenny event says teens suspected of being intoxicated will be breathalysed.
