WRC talks around C&C cuts breakdown

A raft of mandatory redundancies at C&C in Tipperary and across the group take effect from today.

In recent months the drinks giant has sought to cut numbers throughout its departments with up to 50 staff members facing layoffs which comes on the back of the closure of the former Gleeson’s C&C plant in Borrisoleigh with production moving to their Annerville site outside Clonmel.

However workers are unhappy that the terms they are being offered now differ from those given to staff at the Mid Tipp plant.

Talks at the Workplace Relations Commissions yesterday to try and resolve the issue broke down without resolution with the matter now being referred to the Labour Court

Tipp TD Mattie McGrath believes C&C are showing little respect for their staff.
