According to latest figures from the Central Statistics Office there were just under 9,500 signing on the Live Register in the Premier County in October.

This is 1,873 fewer compared to a year ago.

Today’s CSO figures show a total of 9,459 were claiming some form of unemployment assistance – this is also a drop of 340 on the September figure.

All eight social welfare offices in the county recorded a drop in numbers last month with Clonmel down 86 and Thurles 85 while Roscrea saw a reduction 41, Tipp Town 35, Nenagh 31, Cahir 30 and Cashel 27.

While continuing the downward trend Carrick on Suir was the only one to record a single digit fall with 5 fewer on the Live Reg.

However we’re still a long way off the boom figures – the Tipperary total is still way higher than it was a decade ago when there were just 5,156 signing on the Live Register. Today it’s 4,303 more.
