Sky Innovation Park plans set for submission

A planning application has been lodged this week for what has been described as a potential “game changer” for West Tipperary.

The proposals for the Sky Innovation Park on the outskirts of Tipperary Town were initially unveiled last April.

This project is said to have the capacity to create 700 jobs and generate 48 million in wages in West Tipperary in the space of five years.

Parts of Tipperary Town are officially classified as an unemployment blackspot with rates hitting as high as 34% according to the Central Statistics Office.

Tipperary Retail Park at Bohercrowe on the Limerick Road is currently zoned for retail and warehousing.

Owners Corajio have now sought permission from Tipperary County Council for a change of use to industry and innovation for the 8 units together with alterations to the front elevation including the construction of 4 new entrance lobbies.

It’s hoped the 1.5 hectare site just off the N24 will be developed in three stages.

If it gets the green light from the planning authority it would be available to either one employer or multiple employers.
