Minister says Lisheen project will have huge benefits for Tipperary

The allocation of €4.5 million for a National Bioeconomy Facility at the former Lisheen Mine site has been described as a game changer for Tipperary.

The funding under the Regional Enterprise Development Fund will see a new campus at Lisheen which will include a state-of-the-art bio-processing facility comprising of nearly 8,000 square feet of a new build and the partial refurbishment of an existing building on the site

Minister for Business, Enterprise and Innovation Heather Humphreys says it will come as a relief for people who had feared a replacement for Lisheen Mine would never materialise.
