Strategy to aid Littleton Bord na Mona staff

Tipperary’s political representatives at local and national level are joining forces to develop a strategy to help Bord Na Mona workers in Littleton.

They held a meeting with union officials on Friday to discuss a plan of action in the wake of the company’s decision to close down the briquette factory next year with the loss of 69 full time jobs and the possible loss of 56 other seasonal positions.

Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughton will meet with the five Tipperary TDs at his office in the Dáil on Wednesday evening while councillors are also raising the issue at today’s meeting of the local authority.

Tipperary TD Michael Lowry says their strategy focuses on a number of areas
