The numbers on the Live Register in Tipperary have almost halved in the last ten years.

A decade ago there were nearly 14,700 people on the Live Reg in Tipperary.

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office this week show this has fallen to 7,419 which is a reduction of 49.5%.

There’s also been a significant drop in the last month alone – down 653 from August to September.

All eight Social Welfare offices in Tipp recorded a reduction last month with the largest fall in Thurles at 164 while there were 125 fewer signing on in Cahir.

Year on year there’s been a fall of just over 900 in the Premier County.
