Thurles has gained its proper standing in the Regional Spatial and Economic Strategy.
That was the consensus of Councillors at this weeks meeting of the local Municipal District.
Originally Clonmel was the only town in County Tipperary to be referred to in the strategy.
However Councillor Seamus Hanafin says after much lobbying and hard work Thurles has now been included.
