Over 230 free car parking spaces will be available in Carrick on Suir today.
It’s all part of efforts by the local council to boost trade in the town in the run up to Christmas.
Charges will be waived at all County Council car parks in the town each Saturday during December – similiar initiatives are taking place in other towns across the county.
Today is the first day of the free parking – however Seamus Campbell of the Carrick on Suir Business Association says it’s also a big day in the town for another reason.
