Early indications of high voter turnout across Premier County

Thousands of people have begun casting their ballots in the marriage referendum and the referendum on the age of the president…polls opened at 7am this morning and will remain open until 10 pm tonight. 

Presiding officers from around the county say there's been a steady flow of voters throughout the day and they are expecting it to pick up right throughout the afternoon. 

In Clonmel, some booths have had over 13% turnout while one booth in Ballyporeen is at 12%  

Thurles CBS is at 20%, Nenagh CBS has had 16% of voters cast their ballots while the Gaelscoil in Nenagh is at 17%. 

In Holycross it’s slightly slower at 13% and reports from Roscrea show almost 20% of people have already voted by lunchtime. 

Ballina has had a 17% turnout so far this afternoon with presiding officers there saying a lot of young people have come out to vote.
