Dramatic increase in attempts or threats to murder in Tipperary


There has been a 700% increase in the number of attempts or threats to murder in the Tipperary Garda Division.

Figures from the Central Statistics Office show there were 14 such incidents recorded in the Division in 2010 – this compared with 2 the previous year.

This is an increase from 1.3 incidents per 100,000 of population to 9.1 per 100,000.

According to the CSO figures there was a 100% detection rate in these cases.
