Delays in appointing staff to Diabetes Care Services in the Mid-West highlighted.

Deputy Michael Lowry has raised serious concerns with regards to the excessive delays in filling positions in the Diabetes Care Service of the HSE Mid-West.

The North Tipperary Independent T.D says that despite sanction being given to allocate staff to this service in January of last year, the process has continually been delayed by bureaucracy and tied up with red tape.

Nationally 24 specific diabetes care posts have not been filled.

According to Deputy Lowry the specific diabetes clinics to be established for those with type 2 diabetes to provide care in the community in North Tipp have not yet been staffed despite the fact that a panel of successful candidates have been drawn up.

Around 3,200 people in North Tipperary have diabetes.
