The HSE says they will have a doctor in place tomorrow to fill a GP vacancy in Thurles.

A locum who was due to fill in from this week has been delayed due to issues with paperwork.

Efforts have been ongoing for some time to secure a doctor to take over the practice of Dr John Healy in Thurles.

The HSE has advertised the post but there have been no expressions of interest in the practice which has in the region of 800 patients.

A locum was due to be in place this week at the Slievenamon Road surgery – however patients found that there was no doctor available today.

Local TD Jackie Cahill says he has been in touch with the HSE who say the delay is down to the locum’s paperwork not being in order.
