Dáil to be briefed on Gridlink project later this month.

The Energy Minister expects to brief the Dáil before the end of the month on public concerns over the Gridlink electricity pylons project.

Members of the public made 35 thousand submissions by the time the initial public consultation on the 500 million Euro plan closed last week.

If it is granted planning permission, the project would see the erection of overground electricity cables from Cork to Wexford and on to Kildare.

Some of the routes being considered pass through the Suir Valley in Tipperary.

Minister Rabbitte says he's asked Eirgrid to report back as soon as possible on the issues raised by the public.
