Yet another All Ireland title has made its way to Tipperary.

The Cummins family from Rahealty, Thurles have claimed the much coveted title of Ireland's Fittest Family for 2016.

Dad Jim Cummins, along with sons Henry and Mark and daughter Ciara made up the team for this year's competition.

The television show, which has been running for several years sees families from across the country face difficult physical challenges to get through to the final.

The filming of the show ran for several weeks on RTÉ One and saw families compete against each other in a series of obstacle courses including a 2 tonne container pull and the notorious Jacob’s ladder.

The Cummins family, from Rahealty in Thurles were coached by Anna Geary, the former Cork All Star Camogie captain.

The final, which was aired last night, saw the Tipperary family beat off competition from Clare and Donegal to clinch the title along with a cash prize of €15 thousand.

Speaking to Tipp Today this morning, Henry Cummins says the final task was the toughest but being close to each other helped them to overcome the challenges.

Local Independent TD Michael Lowry says the family showed huge commitment and courage to come through the tough physical challenges.
