Criticism of clean up at Clonmel ahead of Minister’s visit

Suggestions that patients on trolleys have been cleared from the corridors at South Tipp General ahead of a visit by the Health Minister have been criticised.

Minister Simon Harris is due to visit the Clonmel hospital and Our Lady's in Cashel this afternoon.

Overcrowding has been a major problem at South Tipp General of late with large numbers of patients being treated in corridors around the Emergency Department or in overflow areas of wards.

However there are reports that this is not an issue today while parts of the hospital have been painted ahead of the Ministers visit.

Local TD and chairperson of the Save Our Acute Hospital Services Committee Seamus Healy says Simon Harris needs to see first hand how bad the situation at South Tipp General is.
