Three people have been arrested in connection with counterfeit €50 notes in circulation in Tipperary.
Gardaí carried out searches in Charleville this morning, after 6 premises in Nenagh, and one in Tipperary town, were targeted with fake notes over the weekend.
Shop owners, and shoppers are being asked to be extra vigilant coming up to Christmas.
Inspector Seamus Maher says shops should use their ultraviolet pens to detect counterfeit notes.
