Pressure is mounting on the Government to ensure domestic violence is treated as a criminal offence.
It was one of the recommendations made by the UN’s Committee against Torture yesterday – which has been welcomed by the National Women’s Council of Ireland.
It also calls for further redress for the survivors of institutional abuse and Magdalene laundries.
