Man jailed for Clonmel robberies

A South Tipperary man has been jailed for carrying out robberies at two shops in Clonmel.

Darren O’Leary of The Bungalow, Barrack Street, Ardfinnan was before Clonmel Circuit Court this week on charges relating to incidents earlier this year.

He was accused of robbing the Centra Store on the Old Bridge in Clonmel on April 30th.

The 33 year old was also charged with robbing 640 Euro from the Food Fair on Parnell Street in the town the same day.

O’Leary pleaded guilty to both charges when he appeared before Judge Thomas Teehan.

He was sentenced to 6 years for the robbery on Parnell Street with the final 4 years suspended.

A 1 year sentence for the raid on the Old Bridge store is to run concurrently.
