Householders encouraged to improve security

Gardaí are encouraging people in Tipperary to do their bit to prevent burglaries.

Break-ins increase by 50% during the winter months with the majority happening between 4pm and 11pm.

Householders in Tipp are being encouraged to make sure they do what they can to deter burglars.

Sgt. Tom O’Dwyer is the Crime Prevention Officer in the Tipperary Garda Division.


Only around 4% of items stolen have their serial numbers recorded making it extremely difficult for Gardaí to reunite people with their property.

Speaking on Tipp Today Tipperary Crime Prevention Officer Tom O’Dwyer said people need to take basic steps to held Gardaí recover stolen items.
