The Education Minister says the government continues to have confidence in the Garda Commissioner despite recent Garda scandals.

A report this week confirmed 1 and a half million fake breath tests were recorded on the Garda pulse system between 2009 and 2016.

184,000 of these were in the Tipperary Garda Division – however Chief Supertintendent Catherine Keogh has declined to comment on the figure

Opposition TD’s have called for Garda Commissioner Noirin O’Sullivan to resign on foot of the revelations.

But Minister Richard Bruton says the government believes she is the right person to lead the force.
