Joseph Goggins of Blarney House, Newtown Commons, New Ross, County Wexford appeared before Judge Terence Finn at Cashel District Court today.

The court appearance came in the wake of an incident earlier this week when a man claiming to be a tradesman called to a woman’s home on the outskirts of Clonmel earlier this week and carried out works.

He then drove the woman to the bank where she withdrew a large sum of money to pay him. GardaĆ say the amount charged was far in excess of what the job was worth.

The 49 year old accused has been released on bail to appear before Clonmel District Court on January 16th next.

Judge Finn imposed a number of conditions on the granting of bail – these included that Joseph Goggins remain outside of Clonmel district apart from court appearances.
