CEO speaks on new UHL Emergency Department

The CEO of the UL Hospital Group, which caters to patients across North Tipperary, says the new emergency department in Limerick is slightly behind schedule.

Over 61,000 people attend the emergency department in Dooradoyle every year, with that number continuing to grow on an annual basis.

A new expected date of opening of the multi million euro department is now scheduled for next May, almost six months later than originally planned.

However, CEO of the hospital group, Colette Cowen says they need to make sure that the unit is properly ready before they open it, but they'd like to see more people using the local injury unit in Nenagh instead of coming to Limerick.
