Cath Lab campaign to stage Dáil protest

People from Tipperary and the South East are being asked to show their support for a campaign to have a 24 hour Cath Lab in the region.

The South East Patient Advocacy Group will hold a protest at the Dáil next Tuesday to highlight what they say is the huge risk to patients.

They say the region has to have a 24/7 cardiac care service based at Waterford University Hospital – at present it operates 9 to 5 from Monday to Friday.

The issue was highlighted again in recent weeks following the death of a Waterford man who was being transferred to Cork following a heart attack.

Spokesperson for the group Hilary O’Neill is hopeful Tuesday’s protest will get a result.
