Calls for new waste charges to be poverty proofed

The Society of St Vincent de Paul has also raised concerns about any increase to the Public Service Obligation Levy on electricity prices.

It says affordability measures need to be put in place for low income households who are already struggling to make ends meet.

National President of the Society is Tipp native Kieran Stafford.

Speaking on Tipp Today he said they regularly have to deal with people struggling to cope with utility bills and fears any increase would add to the problems.
