Call for independent inquiry into Garda Ombudsman bugging claim.

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform says all the facts about the Garda Ombudsman's bugging claims must be made public as soon as possible.

Justice Minister Alan Shatter will brief the Cabinet this morning after meeting with GSOC yesterday.

Last night the Garda Commissioner called on the Ombudsman to clarify its statement in which it said it found no evidence of Garda misconduct.

Opposition parties have called for an independent inquiry into the matter.

And speaking on his way into Government Buildings this morning, Minister Brendan Howlin said he wants the full facts to be brought to light immediately.
