Plans for major revamp of Clonmel filling station shot down

Planning permission has been refused for a major redevelopment of a filling station on the outskirts of Clonmel.

Cork based Amber Petroleum lodged a planning application last April with Tipperary County Council to transform the site at Laganore on the N24 outside Clonmel.

The plans included the demolition of the existing petrol station, car showrooms, vehicle service building and car wash.

This was to be replaced with a new filling station, convenience shop, deli, seated café area and food stores.

An ATM and outdoor seating area were also included in the plans.

The application showed that 25 jobs would be created if the development went ahead.

Tipp County Council sought further information from the Cork based applicant in May which was furnished late last month.
However the local authority has decided to refuse permission for the redevelopment mainly due to concerns about access to and from the site from the N24 Waterford Road.
