Lidl open new flagship store in Nenagh

The German discount retailer will be the anchor tenant of the multi-million Euro development on the old O’Connor’s Shopping Centre site.

Staff and customers at Lidl in Nenagh will today make the short trip to their new premises on Marty’s Road in the town

A new state of the art store has been built on part of the O’Connor’s Shopping Centre site – the original shop opened on McDonagh Street in 2001.

The Martyr’s Road site is a prime location in Nenagh having been home to O’Connor’s Shopping Centre which has lain idle since it closed in 2011.

The 5½ acre site was purchased by Twomileborris man Martin Healy in 2015 who unveiled major plans tied in to the local authority’s strategic plan for the area.

A key part of this was the connectivity between the O’Connor’s site and the town centre.

As part of the development Martin Healy will take over the old Lidl building with plans for a 30,000 square foot office development costing €2.5 million.
