Bank error leads to delay in payments

Bank of Ireland, is offering a “profuse apology” to tens of thousands of people who didn't get paid today because of a bank error.

The error – which effects customers of all banks – means Gardaí, nurses, teachers, prison officers and thousands of civil servants didn't get paid today.

Both Bank of Ireland and AIB say customers who incur any late payment fees as a result of the error will be refunded in full.
